On April 29, Christian showed up to the right-wing "March for Free Speech" on 82nd Avenue in Montavilla with a baseball bat in an attempt to assault left-wing protesters. The bat was quickly confiscated by Portland police officers. He ranted how he was a nihilist. He'd soon yelled racial slurs ("fuck all you n*****s") and gave the Nazi salute throughout the day. White Helmets founder dead 11/11/19 #Transit #Mercury

James Gustaf Edward Le Mesurier OBE (25 May 1971 – 11 November 2019) was the British co-founder of the White Helmets, a volunteer civil defence organisation in the Syrian Civil War. He was a British Army officer in the 1990s and also worked with the United Nations peacekeeping force in the former Yugoslavia. He was also the director of the non-profit Mayday Rescue Foundation.

On 11 November 2019, Le Mesurier was found dead in the street at 4:30 in the morning (1:30 GMT) in the Kemankeş Kara Mustafa Paşa neighbourhood of Beyoğlu, Istanbul, as a result of what appears to have been a fall from his balcony. Le Mesurier was found with fractures to his head and legs. Le Mesurier's wife said they had only a short while earlier gone to bed at 4 a.m., taking sleeping tablets. Later The Times reported that the Turkish police were treating the death as suicide, based on information from Le Mesurier's wife and his recent medical history, and that no forensic, autopsy or CCTV evidence indicated otherwise. On 14 November 2019 Le Mesurier's body was repatriated to London, while the Turkish investigation continued.

In 2018, the UK agreed to give asylum to some of the 500 White Helmets members and relatives who had been evacuated to Jordan, following lobbying by Le Mesurier. The UK government justified the decision by noting that "The White Helmets have saved over 115,000 lives during the Syrian conflict".

The Times reported that Le Mesurier was "the subject of an intense black propaganda campaign for years by pro-Assad activists and Russian diplomats". The New York Times reported that the group and Le Mesurier were the target of "unfounded conspiracy theories". It was alleged that Le Mesurier's British Army background meant that he was effectively operating as a British state agent. Janine di Giovanni has written the claim he was a spy lacks any evidence. The accusations, from those who are opposed to any Western involvement in Syria and are backers of the Assad regime, include bloggers connected to the English-language Russian media who claim the White Helmets and Le Mesurier were intending to push for regime change in Syria.

A week before Le Mesurier died, he was accused on Twitter by Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs official Maria Zakharova of being a former MI6 agent with "connections to terrorist groups". The UK Permanent Representative to the UN, Karen Pierce, denied the charges, saying that they were "categorically untrue. He was a British soldier." She described Le Mesurier as a "true hero"

Bashar Assad: "Le Mesurier was killed because he knew important secrets

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said that the former British intelligence officer James Gustaf Edward Le Mesurier, the founder of the White Helmets, was killed because he knew important secrets.

"He was killed because he had many important details and secrets about prominent figures in the American and British regimes, and possibly other countries as well," Assad said in an interview with Sputnik and the Rossiya-24 channel.

Assad also stated that it was very likely that the Turkish intelligence had done this work on the instructions of the foreign intelligence services.

"These are the acts of intelligence agencies, the question is which ones? ...When we refer to Western intelligence agencies, including the Turkish and some other intelligence agencies in our region, we know that ... they are branches of the main intelligence agency, the CIA," Assad said.

Syrian President linked Le Mesurier's death to the death of IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, US billionaire Jeffrey Epstein and al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

"Were they to remain alive, there may have come a time or circumstance where they would have revealed the truth.

Maybe the founder of the White Helmets was writing his memoir and this is not acceptable. These are all probabilities, but they are very likely probabilities because the alternative is not convincing for me," Assad claimed.

WHERE'S THE FLUX?

There is a mystery in the universe, for which no satisfactory explanation has yet been found. The first exoplanet (planet orbiting a star outside our solar system) was only confirmed in 1992. It was orbiting a pulsar, the rapidly spinning core of a dead star. The first exoplanet orbiting a Sun-like star was confirmed three years later, in 1995. Since then, over 3,200 have been found (as at July 2016). Exoplanets can be found either using direct imaging, timing variations, or radial velocity. But most are found using transit photometry.

Between 2009 and 2013, the Kepler telescope monitored 150,000 stars. Measurements taken every thirty minutes allowed for the detection of any slight reduction of light from any of those stars. When a planet passes in front of its host star, it blocks a small amount of that star's light, even if only slightly.

Our biggest planet is Jupiter. Huge, about 2.5 times the size (by mass) of all the other planets combined. 1,321 Earths would fit inside the volume of Jupiter. For comparison, a transit of Jupiter would dim the light of the sun by about a full one percent. Imagine the surprise when a transit was recently observed that blocked twenty percent of a star 1.5 time the size of the sun! Initially ignored by computer analysis (we weren't looking for that!), a vast team of citizen scientists subsequently made the discovery after reviewing the Kepler dats in October, 2015. Wow! If that doesn't grab your attention you're way too parochial. The mystery star  is located in the Cygnus constellation (Northern Cross).

Cygnus is the swan. The word התנשמת (haTanshemeth, meaning "the swan") appears twice in the Hebrew Bible (Lev 11:18 and Deu 14:16), and has a gematria value of 1195. KIC 8462852 shines with a magnitude of 11.7, and in pi the first occurrence of 1195 is preceded by the 11th star number (661).

It's an event that happens only 13 times per century. Only transits of the inner planets Mercury and Venus are possible since the outer planets can only ever be seen from Earth to go behind, not in front of, the Sun. The next one is on November 13, 2032. It will be best viewed from the eastern U.S., Central America and South America.

8 – A spectacular 'Ring of Fire' eclipse

Are you ready for a Ring of Fire? There's no totality during this rare Annular Solar Eclipse because the moon is a 'micro moon', the furthest it gets from Earth, so appears small in the sky (the opposite to a supermoon). Instead, you get to see a fabulous ring around the moon. It's the best kind of partial eclipse by far, but you do have to wear solar safety glasses to see anything, so it's nowhere near as 'good' as a Total Solar Eclipse (and there's no totality). You'll also have to go to Saudi Arabia, Oman, southern India, northern Sri Lanka, the Indian Ocean, Singapore or Indonesia to see it.

When it was spun out from Google last year, Sidewalk Labs promised to improve urban living by creating "smart cities." Now, in documents obtained by the Guardian, we've got an idea of exactly how the Alphabet company envisions these cities will work. In proposals offered to Columbus, Ohio — the winner of the $40 million Smart City challenge award organized by the US Department of Transport — Sidewalk Labs says it will use camera-equipped cars to keep track of empty private parking spaces and offer them for short-term rental, and combine various methods of transport under one app, integrating car-sharing services, bus routes, and even bike lanes to create a new kind of public transport.

The company is reportedly offering Columbus a three-year trial of its capabilities, bringing 100 Wi-Fi kiosks as well as systems it says are "new superpowers to extend access and mobility." The project is built around Sidewalk Labs' Flow software, introduced earlier this year as a tool designed to manage congestion and parking problems, with an eye to the eventual introduction of self-driving cars. Using Flow and data from Google Maps' camera cars, Sidewalk Labs could tally all the parking spaces in a city, then using data from drivers and parking meters to estimate whether they would be free in real-time.

The city of Columbus is expected to receive one percent of the revenue from Flow Transit, or about $2.25 million a year — Sidewalk Labs did not say how much it would be taking in — but it would also be expected to re-train police officers, update road infrastructure, and constantly share data with the company. Sidewalk Labs also expects its partners to take the lead in political moves, expecting them to be responsible for "clearing policy hurdles in order to make implementations possible." If the Ohio city does see value in Sidewalk Labs' vision of a future city, it could reportedly put its parking plan into practice as soon as next January, with its Flow Transit app working from July.

Between late Monday and early Tuesday, sky watchers in much of North America might be able to catch the waning crescent moon transit in front of Mars, depending on their region.

“A lunar occultation involving a planet is a rare event,” astronomy blogger Dave Samuhel reports for AccuWeather. “There are only a few per decade as seen from any given spot on the globe.”

The moon will 'eclipse' Mars before dawn Tuesday! Here's how to see it.

Parts of the western and central U.S. and Canada will be able to view both the disappearance and reappearance of the Red Planet in a dark or twilight sky. However, from western Canada, the Pacific Northwest and northern portions of California and Nevada, only the end of the occultation will be seen, since Mars will already be behind the moon when it rises around 3:30 a.m. local time. On the other hand, across the Eastern U.S., the planet will both disappear and emerge after sunup.
