Trump Nominates Judge Neil Gorsuch to Supreme Court
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump nominated Judge Neil Gorsuch on Tuesday evening to fill the seat on the U.S. Supreme Court left open by the sudden death of Justice Antonin Scalia in February 2016.
President George W. Bush appointed Gorsuch to the federal bench in 2006, after he worked in the Bush administration for two years as a deputy associate attorney general at the U.S. Department of Justice. Gorsuch currently serves as a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, which has jurisdiction over Wyoming, Kansas, Oklahoma, Utah, New Mexico, and his native Colorado.
Gorsuch is considered one of the most intellectual jurists on the federal bench, evinced by his gilded pedigree. He received his undergraduate degree from Columbia University in 1988 and graduated from Harvard Law School in 1991. Later in his career, he earned a Ph.D. from Oxford University in 2004. He would be the first Supreme Court justice in decades to hold a doctoral degree.
He’s had a picture-perfect legal career. He served as a law clerk for Judge David Sentelle on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, then clerked for both Justice Byron White and later Justice Anthony Kennedy on the U.S. Supreme Court. He went on to a very successful career in the private sector before joining the Bush Justice Department in 2005.

Front National leader Marine Le Pen will consider copying President Trump’s restrictions on immigration from terror-linked countries if elected president, says a top representative from Le Pen’s campaign.
Steve Briois, a leading member of France’s Front National party, was asked by reporters if Le Pen would consider implementing a similar policy to Trump’s if given the chance as president.
“Why not,” Briois said. “We are not living in the land of Care Bears anymore. We are in a horrible world. So from time to time, we must take authoritarian measures, even if they shock.”
Though Le Pen hasn’t commented directly on Trump’s new policy, she has offered him praise on several occasions and even pointed out the similarities of their campaigns.
“We are similar because we are not part of the establishment, we are not part of the system, and we do not depend on anybody and we don’t take orders from anyone,” she told CNN.

President Donald Trump has replaced the former director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement with Thomas D. Homan, who will serve as acting director until a permanent candidate can be appointed.
Homan is a veteran of law enforcement with over 33 years experience, and 30 years involvement in immigration capacities, most recently as executive associate director of enforcement and removal operations – a position he has held since 2013.
He succeeds Daniel Ragsdale, a holdover from the Obama administration.
The Washington Post profiled Homan in 2016 in a piece that began, “Thomas Homan deports people. And he’s really good at it.”

One of the key figures behind the anti-Trump protests in Portland, Oregon has been taken into custody and is facing sexual abuse charges after a police investigation into his relationship with a teenage boy, according to local media outlets.
According to KOIN.com, the 23-year-old activist is a registered sex offender and was previously arrested for disorderly conduct during the anti-Trump protests after the election.

Many of ESPN’s woes stem from so-called “cord cutting”. TV viewers are increasingly shunning pricey cable TV packages in favor of trimmed down options that don’t include the high priced sports network.
But growing evidence would suggest the subscriber slump is also driven, in part, by viewer disgust with ESPN’s politics. The network has become increasingly liberal of late, not bothering to disguise the left-wing sympathies of its presenters and commentators.

Aberdeen, SD: Somali refugee found guilty of sexual assault in December is supposed to be sentenced today

Liban Mohamed was found guilty in December of attempted sexual assault of a special needs woman. He was arrested last July after reportedly only being in the country for one week.

We are all still puzzled about how he was able to be wandering around an Aberdeen neighborhood after only a few days in the country. Trump fires acting attorney general in rift over immigration order
WASHINGTON — President Trump fired Acting Attorney General Sally Yates Monday night after the Obama holdover refused to defend his controversial refugee ban in court.
The ouster came just hours after Yates said she would not defend in court the president’s executive order suspending immigration from seven majority-Muslim countries.
"Ms. Yates is an Obama administration appointee who is weak on borders and very weak on illegal immigration," said a statement from the White House that appeared to be in Trump's own voice. \

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump fired acting Attorney General Sally Yates Monday night for "refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect the citizens of the United States," the White House said.
"(Yates) has betrayed the Department of Justice," the White House statement said.
Dana Boente, US attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, the White House said, and was sworn in at 9 p.m. ET, per an administration official.
Trump didn't call Yates to dismiss her, she was informed by hand-delivered letter, according to a different administration official.
The dramatic move came soon after CNN reported Yates told Justice Department lawyers not to make legal arguments defending Trump's executive order on immigration and refugees.

Cincinnati Mayor: We Are Now a Sanctuary City
The mayor of Cincinnati has declared his municipality to be a sanctuary city, which will now protect illegal aliens from federal immigration officers.
Mayor John Cranley announced, alongside Muslim, Jewish and Christian religious leaders, that his city would “stand in solidarity with the immigrant community,” and declare itself a sanctuary city, despite the threat of losing federal funding under President Donald Trump’s administration.
“This city stands with immigrants,” Cranley said during the live press conference. “This city stands with Muslims. This city stands with Syrian refugees yearning to break free.”
“This city opposes executive orders to halt refugee resettlement and targeting cities that are trying to live up to the promise of the Statue of Liberty,” Cranley continued.
Cranley’s call to become a sanctuary city came just after the Trump Administration enacted an executive order to temporarily halt all refugee resettlement from select nations.

Marine Le Pen, the leader of the Far-Right National Front, is still ahead in the polls as France heads towards the first round of presidential elections in the spring.
A poll by Kantar Sofres put her on 25 percent, ahead of Francois Fillon, a conservative former prime minister, who is now neck-and-neck with Emmanuel Macron, a maverick independent, who is polling better than expected.
Fillon is on 22 percent and Macron is on 21 percent.
The Socialist candidate, Benoît Hamon, who was only chosen in a primary yesterday, is trailing on 15 percent.
But only two candidates make it into the second round of the presidential election in May and Le Pen is still expected to be defeated by whoever makes it through.

RASMUSSEN POLL: CLEAR MAJORITY OF AMERICANS SUPPORT TRUMP’S TRAVEL BAN
A new Rasmussen poll finds that 57 per cent of Americans support President Trump’s travel ban on people arriving from terror-linked countries, with just 33 per cent opposing the measure.
Asked if they support a temporary 90 day ban on “refugees” from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen, a clear majority of Americans back Trump, despite widespread media criticism of the executive order.
The poll also found that Americans support a visa block on all individuals from those same countries by a margin of 56 per cent to 32 per cent.
“Most voters opposed former President Obama’s plan to bring tens of thousands of Middle Eastern and African refugees here this year. Sixty-two percent (62%) said Obama’s plan posed an increased national security risk to the United States,” reports Rasmussen.
The poll was conducted before this weekend’s protests, although given the behavior of some of the protesters, it’s unknown whether that would increase or decrease support for the measure amongst Americans.

Marine Le Pen is one course to win the first round of voting in this year’s French presidential elections, a shock poll has revealed.
The Front National leader is still likely to lose out in the second round voting, however, as those from both left and right will unite against her, the Kantar-Sofres poll for Le Figaro suggested.
In the first-round vote in April, Ms. Le Pen would come first with 25 per cent. Conservative candidate François Fillon would garner 21-22 per cent and centrist Emmanuel Macron can expect 20-21 per cent.
In the runoff to be held on May 7th, both Mr. Fillon and Mr. Macron are projected to win if either is pitted against Ms. Le Pen, while Mr. Macron would beat Mr. Fillon in the knockout.

Bucks County Authorities Make Arrest In Fetish-Themed Child Predator Sex Ring

On Friday police in Bucks County 57-year-old Kenneth Fenske of Quakertown for taking part in the sexual abuse ring.
Shapiro adds that this is an ongoing investigation and they believe this child abuse sex ring involves more victims and more predators, and anyone with any information should come forward.

Report: SCOTUS Announcement to Come Sooner than Expected
The White House recently indicated that President Trump would be announcing his Supreme Court pick next Thursday. Trump told Fox News' Sean Hannity that he was subject to change his mind at the last minute, but he had "pretty much" made his choice. It appears the president is even more confident in his pick, because ABC News's Jonathan Karl has just gotten word that the announcement could come sooner than later.
The list has reportedly been narrowed to two men: Neil Gorsuch and Thomas Hardiman. Guy wrote about 10th Circuit Court Judge Gorsuch's credentials last week, highlighting his eerie similarities to the late Justice Antonin Scalia - and his youth. Hardiman is a federal judge for the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals, placed there by Pres. George W. Bush in 2007. I’ve been procrastinating about writing this post, because it required work!
I had to go back through my over 2,000 posts on refugee crimes, here, and pull out Islamic terror cases involving refugees. I chose ten, not for any other reason than these ten below are at the top of my mind. And, I think ten is enough to counter the disinformation campaign going on.
For good measure, I have also added (below) a few spectacular crimes involving Muslim refugees.
But, I have to do it (to write this) because clearly the refugee industry has sent out talking points that I am seeing parroted many times each day which pretty much go like this: no refugee has committed an act of terror in the US. LOL!
Here are ten that come to mind:
~The Somali (Mohamed Osman Mohamud) arrested on charges he planned to blow up a Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Oregon was a refugee. See here in 2010. He was arrested as he planned to detonate a bomb.
~ Two Iraqi refugees were convicted on charges that they helped Al Qaeda in Iraq and may have killed American servicemen there. They lied on their refugee applications. Best coverage of 2011 case here by ABC News. The entire Iraqi flow to America had to be re-screened that year!
~In 2012 Abdullatif Ali Aldosary (an Iraqi refugee) set off a bomb at a Social Security Office in Arizona. Sentenced here.
~As successful asylum seekers, the Boston Bombers were refugees who had benefited from America’s generosity. One of many stories here about the 2012 deadly Boston Marathon attack by the Tsarnaev brothers (Chechens).
~In 2013 Fazliddin Kurbanov was arrested in Idaho and later convicted on terrorism charges. Kurbanov is an Uzbek refugee. See here.
~In early 2016 an Iraqi refugee (Omar Faraj Saeed Al Hardan) living in Texas was accused of planning to bomb a local popular mall, see story at Newsweek.
In September 2016, a Somali refugee went on a stabbing spree at a mall in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Learn more here about Dahir Adan. Knife attacks are signature terror acts for devout Muslims.
~Also in September, the Chelsea bomber, Ahmad Rahimi, was arrested and we learned his family came to the US from Afghanistan and were given asylum. We need to be paying more attention to these asylum seekers since they enter the country completely unscreened and their numbers are on the rise. Story at CNN. Once granted asylum they are given all the same rights and privileges as the refugees we fly in.
~And, we can’t forget the most recent successful attack by Somali refugee slasher, Abdul Razak Ali Artan, at Ohio State, see here.
~For number ten, I’m lumping the dozens of wannabe Somali refugee jihadists (mostly from Minnesota) who have been identified and/or convicted of wanting to leave the country to fight for al-Shabaab or ISIS. See here. Several like those in that recent case, were convicted.

The leader of Italy’s Northern League, Roberto Maroni, simply tweeted a photo of the news of the ban in the Italian press, along with his summation of the situation: “Super Trump,” while calling the U.S. President “Numero Uno” (Number One) in a separate tweet on the same topic.
Marine Le Pen, the leader of France’s National Front Party and current favorite in an upcoming presidential election, said that what really annoys the media and politicians is that Trump honors his campaign promises and implements his program.
Meanwhile, the National Democratic Party in Germany, which has been extremely critical of Prime Minister Angela Merkel’s open-door policy toward migration, lauded the measure.
“The apostles of multiculturalism weep bitterly because U.S. President Donald Trump heavily restricts the entry of pseudo-refugees and Muslims into the USA,” they said on their Facebook page.

College Lecturer Punched In The Face And Knocked Into Freezing Canal For ‘Being White’
A media lecturer at Stratford College was set upon by a group of Muslim males and sent tumbling into a freezing canal while out jogging in Birmingham for, he believes, “being white” on January 15th.
The Stratford Observer reports that Lee Skinner was running along the canal side near Yardley Road, Acocks Green in the middle of the afternoon when one of the five-strong group suddenly struck him full force in the face, knocking him into the icy waters.
The Daily Mirror records how Skinner was “able to identify them as Pakistani as I’ve worked in Muslim communities and have a detailed knowledge of Islam and speak Arabic to a certain level”.
Only after the quick-thinking linguist cried out “There is no God but Allah” in Arabic did his attackers panic and flee the scene, possibly suspecting they may have assaulted a fellow Muslim. He was then able to heave himself out of the frigid waters, but cut his legs badly while doing so.
Skinner caught up to four of the group, though not his principal aggressor, who told him “the attack happened because I was white”.
Expect More Conflict Between Cities and States
With the federal government and most states controlled by conservative Republicans this year, Democrats are looking to Democratic cities and counties to stand up for progressive policy.
But they may want to temper their expectations. State lawmakers have blocked city action on a range of economic, environmental and human rights issues, including liberal priorities such as minimum wage increases, in recent years. And the stage looks set for more confrontation between cities and states this year.
Already, state lawmakers in Texas and Arkansas are weighing bills that would ban cities from declaring themselves “sanctuaries” and withholding cooperation with federal immigration officials.
Lawmakers in Kentucky, Virginia and six other states are considering preventing localities from allowing transgender people to use some restrooms that match their gender identity. In Montana, one lawmaker wants to prevent local governments from banning texting while driving.
