On August 7, Mars squares stabilizing Saturn

August begins with a significant astrological signature that could prove to be architectonic in the months ahead. Since Uranus only meets up with the North Node of the Moon every 15-16 years, the current involvement of Mars intensifies the likelihood for unexpected changes. Although astrologers are currently focused on the August 1 Mars-Uranus-Node conjunction, revolutionary Uranus only tells half the story for the month of August. On August 7, Mars squares stabilizing Saturn, and this procession of planets first aspecting Uranus followed by Saturn is our overriding theme. This energetic pattern repeats when the Sun squares Uranus on August 11 (the same day as the Aquarius Full Moon), followed by its opposition to Saturn on August 14. Venus squares Uranus on August 26, followed by its opposition to Saturn on August 28 with the Virgo New Moon in the middle on August 27. Luna repeats this scenario weekly, reinforcing the building influence of the tightening Saturn-Uranus square that defines the months ahead and reactivating the conflicts between the old and the new. Saturn encourages us to maintain the status quo while Uranus promotes revolutionary breakthroughs. The energy of Uranus is undeniable because Uranus holds its position at 18 degrees Taurus all month, turning retrograde on August 24.

Meanwhile, we are exploring new territory as Mercury runs into analytical Virgo on August 3, followed by the Sun on August 22. We are more likely to express what is in our hearts when Venus shifts into dramatic Leo on August 11. Our forward movement is more flexible once Mars enters adaptable Gemini on August 20. Mercury’s entry into diplomatic Libra on August 25 seeks conflict resolution through cooperation, compromise, and collaboration instead of engaging in volatile confrontations. We are wise to watch for creative opportunities that support our dreams occurring around August 7 (Venus trines Neptune), August 11 (Mars sextiles Neptune), and August 18 (Venus trines Jupiter). The potential for physical, psychological, and spiritual healing is resonant when the Sun and Venus trine Chiron the Healer on August 8 and August 24, respectively.
