U.S. owes black people reparations for a history of ‘racial terrorism,’ says U.N. panel

The history of slavery in the United States justifies reparations for African Americans, argues a recent report by a U.N.-affiliated group based in Geneva.

This conclusion was part of a study by the United Nations' Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent, a body that reports to the international organization's High Commissioner on Human Rights. The group of experts, which includes leading human rights lawyers from around the world, presented its findings to the United Nations Human Rights Council on Monday, pointing to the continuing link between present injustices and the dark chapters of American history.

"In particular, the legacy of colonial history, enslavement, racial subordination and segregation, racial terrorism and racial inequality in the United States remains a serious challenge, as there has been no real commitment to reparations and to truth and reconciliation for people of African descent," the report stated. "Contemporary police killings and the trauma that they create are reminiscent of the past racial terror of lynching."

Citing the past year's spate of police officers killing unarmed African American men, the panel warned against "impunity for state violence," which has created, in its words, a "human rights crisis" that "must be addressed as a matter of urgency."

Disclaimer: Slavery is reprehensible. The purpose of this comment is not to excuse U.S. history, but rather point out other countries are guilty of this atrocity and even more guilty than the U.S. The U.S. was not the only country that used slaves. In addition, the U.S. had quite a lower percentage of slave trade as compared to many other countries. Correct (not distorted) history on slavery:
Portugal, including Brazil = 30,000 voyages with 4,650,000 slaves transported.
Spain, including Cuba = 4,000 voyage with 1,600,000 slaves transported.
France, including West Indies=4,200 voyages with 1,250,000 slaves transported.
Holland = 2,000 voyages with 500,000 slaves transported.
Britain = 12,000 voyages with 2,600,000 slaves transported.
British North America, U.S. = 1,500 voyages with 300,000 slaves transported.
Denmark = 250 voyages with 50,000 transported slaves.
Other = 250 voyages with 50,000 transported slaves.
Total = 54,200 voyages with 11,000,000 transported slaves.
Approximately 10% of slaves came to United States. The other 90% of slaves from Africa were imported into the Caribbean and South America with Brazil having one of the highest percentage of slaves. More information:

NO they don't in fact if you looked at the actual figures of slave owners in the South a big number of them where JEWS!
